There were fireworks for Bob at Trail-Way Friday night and it wasn't the lightning flashing all around the track. Bob started 7th in his heat but early in the running an incident with the 21 car got his front end 4ft in the air. Bob managed to get control of the car and finished 4th.
Bob started 7th in the feature and within 5 laps he managed to race to 3rd. Bob managed to hold his position for another 11 laps until some hard racing put him back to 5th. Over the next 2 laps Bob once again raced his way back up to 3rd before a crash brought out the red flag on lap 19. Officials got the track cleared and the race went green for 2 more laps. On the last lap Bob was racing the 22 car for the 2nd spot. They raced hard in the turns and made a little contact as Bob squeezed by for the 2nd position. A great top 5 finish was in store for Bob until the 22 car, who felt jaded from the contact, got into the back of him and deliberately spun him out. The 22 went onto finish 2nd on the track while Bob was relegated to a 7th place finish.
After the race the driver of the 22 car had some words for Bob and met him in his pit. Once the verbal argument subsided the 2 drivers went their separate ways. Meanwhile track officials were discussing the outcome of the race. Due to the high amount of cars crashing out of the event there were only 7 cars on the lead lap at the end. Therefore the 22 was penalized with a 7th place finish and Bob was given the 6th position. |
